About Priwoo StorageLab

Priwoo StorageLab started with a lost shoot and a corrupted card.

Like a lot of people who care about their photos and footage, I learned the hard way that storage is the part of the workflow nobody thinks about until it fails. A card that worked fine for months suddenly threw a “card error” in the middle of a session, and a full day of work was gone. That moment is the reason this site exists.

Priwoo StorageLab is a small, independent publication focused on one thing: helping photographers, videographers, and content creators understand the storage media they rely on. We cover SD cards, microSD, CFexpress Type A and Type B, external SSD recording, card readers, and the unglamorous-but-critical topics of formatting, file recovery, and avoiding data loss.

There is a lot of marketing noise around memory cards. Speed ratings, class symbols, and bus interfaces are printed on every package, but very few people explain what they actually mean for real shooting situations. Our goal is to cut through that — in plain language, with practical advice you can use before your next shoot, not after something goes wrong.

What we cover

  • SD Card Speed Classes & Buying Guides — what V30, V60, and V90 really mean, how to read the symbols, and how to choose a card that matches your camera.
  • Next-Gen Media (CFexpress & Beyond) — the newer high-speed formats, how Type A and Type B differ, and when an upgrade is actually worth it.
  • Data Recovery & Maintenance — what to do when a card fails, how to recover lost files, and the habits that keep your media healthy.

How we work

Every article is written to be genuinely useful first. When we mention a specific product, it’s because it’s relevant to the topic — not because we were paid to feature it. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend or how we describe it. You can read more on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

If you have a question, a correction, or a topic you’d like us to cover, we’d genuinely like to hear it. You can reach us any time through our Contact page.

About the author

Marcus Hale is the founder and lead writer behind Priwoo StorageLab. His interest in camera storage began the way many do — with a painful loss. A corrupted card wiped out an entire day of shooting, and the experience pushed him to learn everything he could about how SD cards, CFexpress media, and recovery tools actually work under the hood.

Since then, Marcus has spent years reading spec sheets, comparing real-world performance, and testing storage media so that others don’t have to learn the hard way. He writes in plain language, cutting through marketing jargon to explain what speed classes, ratings, and standards really mean for the people behind the camera. When he isn’t writing, he’s usually testing a new card reader or trying to rescue files from a drive someone else gave up on.
